Your Rebranding Checklist

You’re a badass business owner who’s been rockin’ it for a few years now. You’ve watched your offerings grow and evolve over time with the needs of your clients. Now you’re reflecting on how far you’ve come and how to take your business to the next level.

Thinking it’s time for a rebrand? A rebrand is like a make-over for your business. Here are a few things to consider as you decide if a rebrand is right for you:

  1. Who is your ideal client? Has it changed from when you started? Who do you want it to be?

Who your ideal client is will drive your rebrand, because your company vibe is as much about them as it is about you. Having clear answers to these questions is essential, kinda like a killer outfit and awesome shoes.

  2. What services do you offer? What do you want to sell the most?

By this point, you know what you do and you do it well. Match what you do well to what you want to sell the most of to your ideal client, kinda like matching just the right shades of eyeliner and lipstick.

  3. What’s your special sauce? What makes you stand out from the competition?

There’s no one out there like you, which makes you and all that you do unique! Own your quirks, your personal style, your mad skills that make you a pro in your field, that effortlessly messy bun—all of it! Your clients come to you for a reason.

Got all that nailed down? Good. Now you’ve ready to start checking off your rebrand to-do list:

  1. Change your business name. You may want to change the name on your existing business entity, or just add a “DBA”. Not sure which one will work best for you? Look that shit up, or better yet, hire a legal pro. Different states have different laws and requirements. Changing your name will give you a fresh start, just like a new haircut.

  2. Consider hiring an SEO expert to help research keywords for your new services, audience, and/or location, especially if you have a new name and domain.

  3. A branding pro can design a new logo, come up with a new color scheme, choose new fonts, etc. You may also think about hiring a photographer for new brand photos, too. The right branding, like the right outfit, is transformative.

  4. New brand, new copy. Having copy that really captures your brand in a way that appeals to your ideal client while highlighting all that you offer is key to a successful rebrand. Your clients need to know that you get them. They need to feel like they can trust you before they reach out about purchasing your services. All of that comes across through the words on your website. After all, you wouldn’t trust just anyone with that new haircut, would you? Consider Lemon Tree Editorial the hair stylist of your dreams.

  5. Put it all together with a new website, or a website redesign. This is where you combine new SEO keywords, copy, branding, and photography. This is the most DIY-able part of a rebrand as there are a number of fantastic templates out there and you are probably tech-savvy enough to navigate the software on your own.
