FAQs about the FAQ page
When writing website copy for clients, we’re often asked about the Frequently Asked Questions page. Ironic, we know. Here are our opinions on the FAQ page from copy pros who’ve written dozens.
DOes my website need an FAQ page?
Hell yes. The Frequently Asked Questions page is dynamite because:
It's a bottom-of-the-sales-funnel website page, meaning clients who are really interested in hiring you will go there and find it useful. It'll help you seal the deal with them.
It's a good place to add all those details that you want to share but don't want to overload clients with on the Services page or About page.
The content can be aspirational. It doesn't matter if people never ask you those questions — if you want clients to know the answers, create a question (Jeopardy-style) and pop it into the FAQ.
Where does the FAQ page live on my website?
We recommend only putting pages that directly relate to a sale in the main website navigation. So, in the case of the FAQ, we recommend listing it in your footer menu.
If you only have an FAQ section on your website, as opposed to an entire page, it should be listed on your Services page.
What kind of questions do you put on the FAQ page?
Lots. Some popular ones are:
What are your credentials? (This is a great way to talk about your degrees, awards, certifications, etc. without sounding braggadocios.)
What is your process? or What happens on a consultation call? (This helps prospects understand what things look like behind the scenes in your business, which can make it less scary for them.)
What's included with your services? (This is a great one to reiterate what you offer and what exactly clients are getting in a no-fluff way.)
But our favorite FAQ question of all is What goes into your pricing?
Including this question on your FAQ page will remind your clients what you offer and explain the value of your services.
